According to the Gwinnett Helpline, in 2011, there were 26,000 evictions and 23,000 foreclosures in Gwinnett County. Also, during the 2010-2011 school year, the Gwinnett County School System accommodated over 1,655 homeless students.
Times are hard and more and more families are facing evictions and forecloses. And sad to say when these setbacks occur most don’t have a clue as to where to turn or where they are going to lay their heads in a crisis situation, especially here in Gwinnett County.
Why? Because here in Gwinnett the shelter resources are very few and limited in many ways and the caring emergency provider’s such as, the local churches, various community agency assistance programs, cooperative ministries, businesses and empathetic individual’s major resources for those in need for temporary shelter for now is the extended stay hotels.
